More info

The author and TV journalist Wiel Verlinden grew up and still lives on the banks of the Limburg Maas. From the sixties, he consciously experienced the rapid development of the Maasplassen and the then still young water sports.

With a predilection for maritime themes, his work as a program maker for German television brings him aboard the most special sailing yachts in the world. He also develops and produces various water sports series for the WDR.

The love for sailing in his own province and the many possibilities here, however, never let him go.
His recent book: “100 jaar Watersport in Limburg” is primarily a tribute to the pioneers and entrepreneurs who made water recreation and yacht building great in Limburg.

In addition to the history of the origin and development of the Maasplassen, his book tells the story of those special pioneers and yacht builders such as Jan Peulen, Herman Somers, Koos Hermus and, last but not least, the success story of Jac. Linssen. Furthermore, water sports entrepreneurs such as Arie Drenth, Perry Houkes and Rob Vrolijks give their vision on a promising future for water sports.

The bulky book - 220 pages and hardcover - is richly illustrated with unique photo material.
A “must have” for everyone who loves Limburg and water sports.
