The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich displays the remains of a silver-cased pocket watch – a relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition (1845-48). It was found in an abandoned boat in Erebus Bay, King William Island, in May 1859, and it is from this that the Franklin desk clock takes its inspiration.

It is an oversized pocket watch with a nickel-plated cast aluminum case and a crisp white dial with black numbers. Unlike the original, this clock has a quartz movement and therefore does not need to be wound up.

Operates on 1xAA battery (not included).
